Newman was born as the second and youngest child of German and Hungarian parents in Cleveland, Ohio. His numerous acclaimed films include Cool Hand Luke, Hud, The Hustler, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, The Verdict, Absence of Malice and The Color of Money in which he finally won the Oscar on his seventh try.
Proceeds from his “Newman’s Own” line of food products go to charity.
