Event: Kincsem screening with English subtitle

  • May 12th

A record-breaking film about a record-breaking horse. Kincsem is the most expensive Hungarian movie ever made until its release. The director, Gábor Herendi uses a true story of sporting glory as the backdrop to a fictionalized romantic story at the peak of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Kincsem was the most successful racehorse in Hungarian history who won all 54 of her races before retiring in 1879. In the movie, Ernõ Blaskovich (Ervin Nagy) lost everything after the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Kincsem, the magnificent horse gives a purpose of his meaningless, self-destructing life. He gets a chance to gain everything back: revenge, love and fame.

Great costumes, thrilling love, beautiful horses and some popcorn: what else do you need for a great Saturday afternoon?   🙂
