Idén is sokan jöttek el a Mission Bay pázsitjára, hogy a ragyogó nyári napot együtt töltsék el magyar honfitársaikkal. Alelnökünk, Osváth Zoltán kora reggel kihozta a kellékeket a Magyar Házból. Az esemény rendezője, Dunn Rita vezényletével a fiatalok, köztük az én fiaim is, felállították a sátrat és az asztalokat, majd kipakolták a sok inni és ennivalót. 11 óra körül Chris Renko elkezdte sütni a kolbászokat és a virsliket, a nagy kereslet miatt én is beálltam segíteni. Rita és gyerekei szorgalmasan hordták a bucikat, és a hot dog bunokat az éhes közönségnek. A Warner házaspár teljes lakókocsival érkezett, és a konyhában főzték a lecsót, amiből szintén sokaknak jutott. Két új tagtársunk, Balázs Ibolya és Pál Irén igazi meglepetéssel szolgált: lángost sütöttek a rögtönzött tűzhelyen. Bizony régen ettünk már ilyen hazai finomságot, hosszú sor kígyózott az asztal előtt. Aki pedig magyar dallamokra vágyott, Mundi János és tangóharmónikája köré csoportosult. Délután sor került az elmaradhatatlan focimeccsre, de sokan inkább a röplabdát választották. Jól sikerült a rendezvény, mindenki bánhatja, aki nem tudott eljönni idén.
More than 100 Hungarians gathered on the lawn of Misson Bay on this gorgeous Sunday to have fun together. Our vice president, Zoltán Osváth early in the morning delivered the accessories from the Hungarian House. The organizer of the event, Rita Dunn, and the youth including my sons, installed the tent and the tables, and filled them up with food and beverages. Chris Renko started to barbecue the sausages and hot dogs around eleven, I also joined because of the big demand. Rita and her children were always busy with carrying sausage and hot dog buns to the hungry public. The Warners came with an RV and cooked "lecso" in their kitchen for the appreciative audience. Two of our new members, Ibolya Balázs and Irén Pál astonished the still starving people with "langos". It was really a long time ago we had such tasty Hungarian specialty, there was a long queue before the table. Those who desired Hungarian music, gathered around János Mundi with his accordion. In the afternoon there was the usual soccer match, other folks preferred volleyball. This was a very successful event, it's a pity if somebody missed it.
